Anti-Oppression Pedagogy teaches how to structurally analyze systems of oppression, while contemplative practices cultivate an embodied self-awareness. Mindful anti-oppression pedagogy merges the two to cultivate an embodied social justice. This website offers a collection of contemplative practices that have been used in social justice classrooms. The practices come from a variety of traditions and modalities and have been used in courses from multiple disciplines; some of the practices can be used as autonomous activities, while others need to be embedded in ongoing practice and context. Though this website is in no way intended to be comprehensive, it is designed to be a rich resource of ideas and practices that can inspire us, broaden our repertoire of teaching tools, and connect us with other change agents merging mindfulness with social justice.
